This competition was aimed at members of our team to design a prototype car body to house our power source, stopping mechanism and circuitry. It is the last crucial step to ensuring success in the design of our miniature car powered purely by chemical reactions!

The Richie's Rocket

Michael Zeljeznjak was one of our winners for the car body design competition. The car is made up of 100% recycled materials. His innovative thinking and creativity skills really differentiated his car from the rest.

Abubaker Elneihoum was another winner for the car body design competition. What stood out to the team was his creativity, innovation and planning skills. He considered every aspect of the car body design, and paid very close attention to details.

“Initially the car was going to be shaped like a normal car with all the components inside. However, after thinking about disassembling the car during competition.  It became clear that the car body would be better if the top was removed. The sides of the car were used as a base. Using hex bolts and nuts seemed to be the clear choice for holding the car together as they were easy to use, cheap, and took up little space in the box. This design provides a lot of surface area for the car while not taking up a lot of space in the box.”
